Take Control Of Your Hot Water Costs

‘The world’s most efficient and compact thermal energy store’

Instant and efficient hot water

Save money and protect the environment

Mains pressure hot water on demand whenever needed.
Heating your home and water
A modern thermal store is the most compact thermal storage technology available on the market today, saving space in your home and delivering cascades of hot water.
This environmentally friendly, safe and extremely efficient heat storage system is much more compact than traditional hot water systems and can easily be installed in a location of your choice, such as under the kitchen sink or stairs. There is no need for a separate hot water storage cylinder.
A modern thermal store substitutes a standard hot water cylinder working with existing boilers or mains electricity and opens up new opportunities to save energy and cost using a variety of renewable energy sources.
For larger homes, multiple thermal stores can be easily linked, and work with heat pumps and off-peak electricity, to give you maximum comfort and significant savings
Modern Thermal Store Key Benefits

Fully controllable, low carbon & environmentally friendly

Safe, quiet, super insulated and maintenance free

Maximises your energy charge to minimise your fuel bill

Future proof and fully compatible with Economy 7, Solar PV, Thermal storage and Heat pumps
Compact & Modular
Smaller than a slim dishwasher – can be floor mounted, fitted in a small kitchen unit, in a cupboard or in the garage. The technology enables it to store four times more energy than hot water tanks for a given volume of material and this compact size could free up cupboard space where a traditional water cylinder would have been. The units are cuboid and able to stack like Lego®
High Power & High Flow Rates With Minimal Heat Loss
High power heat exchanger inside so that the water is heated instantly at high power (up to 30kW) and high temperature before being blended via a thermostatic mixing valve to a selectable temperature. Delivers fast flowing hot water on-demand. 2 to 4 times less heat loss than a traditional hot water cylinder – Saving money and reducing CO2.
No Maintenance & Easy Installation
Modern Thermal Stores require no maintenance avoiding the annual inspection and service which is required for unvented cylinders. Installation does not need to comply with the requirements of Part G3 of the Building Regulations .
Seasonal Performance Factor (SPF)
Reduced heat losses improve the SPF H4 compared to equivalent heat storage devices. The Seasonal Performance Factor (SPF) only applies to heat pumps. It is a measure of how efficiently your heat pump is operating. Put simply, the higher your SPF value the more energy efficient your system is. SPF is a measure of the operating performance of an electric heat pump heating system over a year. It is the ratio of the heat delivered to the total electrical energy supplied over the year.
A modern thermal store has become the first and only heat cell in the world to be awarded A Grade RAL Certification, the independent quality mark and the only global standard for Phase Change Material (PCM) and PCM products.
RAL Certification provides an audited test for long term performance of PCM. The award follows a rigorous test programme, which involved heating and cooling the heat cells for 10,000 cycles to demonstrate the material’s performance levels and working life. The RAL Quality Mark PCM is reserved for products which continuously comply with the requirements for stored heat, phase transition temperature and stability.
A modern thermal store is easy to install and seamlessly integrates into your heating system and comes with a 10-year warranty on the storage cells.
Heat vs electric storage
Given that most of a home energy usage goes towards producing heat, a modern thermal store provides you with a more compact, more cost effective, low carbon solution to heating your home and hot water.
A modern thermal store can be charged using any energy source. You can offset peak energy costs by charging your modern thermal store with cheaper off-peak electricity, or divert energy from your solar PV, heat pumps or other renewable sources. Once charged, the heat can be released instantly when needed, delivering hot water and space heating during peak times.
Store more energy in less space with the new modern thermal store range, a flexible solution to upgrade your hot water and heating systems.
A modern thermal store replaces traditional cylinders, enhance your combi boiler, and integrates renewables. They are easy to fit, are low maintenance and have a lifespan of over 40,000 cycles (the equivalent of over 50 years of average use).
The energy storage technology has been designed and manufactured to help protect the environment and improve our quality of life through reducing reliance on fossil powered heat while driving down fuel costs.
Based on the knowledge that the world uses over twice as much heat as electricity, a modern thermal store helps solve numerous problems by storing energy as heat and releasing it when and where it is needed. This is achieved at lower cost and higher efficiency than competing technologies (e.g. electrical batteries, hydrogen electrolysis or fuel cells) and is a totally new way of storing energy.
Others have tried, but no-one before has succeeded in perfecting the combination of low-cost materials, exceptional long-life, recyclability, safety and high energy density. This guarantees high energy output and almost unlimited lifespan as the composition of the material remains unchanged.
A modern thermal store cells contain inorganic, non-toxic, salt-based Phase Change Materials (PCM), which absorb and release thermal energy during the process of melting and freezing. When a PCM freezes, it releases a huge amount of energy in the form of latent heat at a constant temperature. This innovation has resulted in a uniquely successful formula which is transforming how we use energy and provide heat around the World.
A modern thermal store uses inorganic, Sodium Acetate based PCM material which is:
- Plentiful and easy to source
- Non toxic
- Non flammable
- Long life: tested to 42,000 cycles with no degradation
- A food grade material
Sodium Acetate is readily available and in common use in dishwasher tablets and as a flavouring for salt and vinegar crisps. It is possible to fully re-use or re-cycle every component at end-of-life – either reformulated into new cells or as a de-icer for example.
By eliminating the need for fossil-fuels and supporting renewable energy, modern thermal stores reduce CO2 emissions, NOx emissions and they also empower people to become more energy efficient around the world, from the individual to large scale organisations and housing developments. Unlike chemical batteries, a modern thermal store doesn’t use any hazardous or toxic materials and doesn’t create any end-of-life disposal issues.
