The heat is stored in the bricks and released into the room throughout the following day. German storage radiators utilise a special material called chamotte, a ceramic fire clay that heats up quickly and retains heat in the core of the radiator. The process of continuously generating and conserving heat within the core means that electricity draw-down is lower than night storage heaters and ensures that your heating is efficient and cost-effective. As soon as the power comes on, the radiator element heats up and the chamotte plates reach maximum temperature in just 5 minutes, resulting in a warm room in less than half an hour. Whereas Economy 7 storage heaters take up to 7 hours to reach optimum operating temperature. It’s a no-brainer as to which one will be more efficient!
Non-porous Material Absorbs More Heat Easily
We believe that Chamotte is the very finest quality ceramic material, as it’s 100% non-porous, which means that supply the best materials available. Although it is slightly costly, we believe that good things don’t come cheap. We are not like other suppliers that try to cut costs by using poorer quality ceramic cores. We understand that in our damp British climate, poorer quality ceramics suck moisture out of the air when they are switched off for some time, especially during summer months. When they come on in autumn, the water ingress can cause the radiator to short circuit the house electrics and can create rusting in the inner casement, which is what we want to avoid.

Traditional night storage heaters require a lot of electricity to reach operating temperature that results in excess electricity being wasted.
